Habicht glider/electric glider, kit, wingspan 1680mm
Krick # 11877
Two-axle glider for gliding and electric flight
"Habicht" is a CAD developed and CNC-laser cut manufactured model airplane. It is perfect for beginners of modeling, but experienced modelers will have much fun with the model as well. The construction of the "Habicht" is kept deliberately simple and easy, so that even unexperienced modelers can build it. All parts are precisely laser cut. The illustrated construction manual is very detailed.
The model is controlled by rudder and elevator, in the electric version also by motor control. The profile of the wings was developed on the base of the profiles of the latest high performance models. This allows an efficient glide ratio and a low sink rate. The "Habicht" also has a good performance in stronger wind. Due to the reduced dihedral of the wings, the model has an excellent agility at still high inherent stability.
The fuselage is made of some plywood- and balsa parts, so that it is solid and forgives some hard landings here and there. The canopy is locked magnetically, which makes an easy access to the flight battery (electric version) and the RC-equipment. The wing is fixed with rubber bands. It is a lightweight rib-/spar construction, whose upper front part is balsa sheeted. The tail unit is made of laser cut parts.
You don't need much to finish the model. Besides glue and some tools (cutter, pins, sandpaper, flat pliers and scissors) you only need the iron-on film for covering.
The required RC equipment of a glider consists of a receiver battery with approx. 1.000 mAh and a switch, a receiver with 2-4 channels and two servos with a width of 13 mm. For the motor drive of the electric version you need lightweight motors with a diameter of 26 or 28mm, a suitable BEC-controller and a 3s-LiPo battery with approx. 1.300 mAh – a good drive combination for a low price.
Due to the separate wing pannels the "Habicht" can be easily transported in a backpack, on the bike and in small cars. The glider can take off on a slope but also on flat fields with the help of a rubber launch. The electric version has the same excellent gliding characteristics as the glider itself.
